Tennis after School
Hundreds of children from Arab communities learn tennis each week after school in Jisr a-Zarka, Bet Hananya, Nazareth, Sakhnin and Daliat el-Carmel.
It was once unheard of to see tennis schools in Arab towns and villages. Whereas Arab children can join clubs in the mixed cities of Jerusalem, Ramle, Lod, Tiberias, Haifa and Jaffa, most Israeli Arab families live in separate communities. Without access to a wide choice of sports and activities, there is a risk of a feeling of disconnect from the state and society as a whole. Tennis is our contribution. Our twice weekly classes attract children of all ages, often with parents in attendance. Parents pay monthly subsidised fees directly to FKI for two lessons a week in these cities
